How different are persian cats from normal cats?

What makes Persian cats so sought after? Is it their behavior or or their understanding or are they more close to humans?

I think it's their looks. if you were to ask me they are much more beautiful. but from what I could understand they are much more difficult and they can also get a lot of health issues

@swissheart yea they look a little bulky and might age quickly. But they are in high demand always and some people believe its level of their understanding with humans.

Persians are extremely docile @avi256 . They can grow to be a pretty good size and their coats need to be brushed. They are very loving.

I think its their appearance it is over gratifying to have one their beautiful cats.
