My Mother's Ashes in the Rose Chest ...

I walked in the back door. I had come through the gate after unlocking it ... the Pups greeted me with happy barks. I smiled at them. I was always so glad to get home to our Pups. I entered the house ... looked to my right where our bedroom was located. I stopped in shock ... I looked harder ... I couldn't believe what I was seeing. Oh my God! I ran into the bedroom sniffing the air! I tried to smell what was burning. Something had to be on fire ... the room was filled with smoke. The strange thing was ... there wasn't any scent. Nothing was burning ... I felt the air with my hands. The mist didn't move ... it stayed in place. I turned around, and around looking all about me. The mist filled the whole room to all four corners. I looked to the fireplace ... awareness filled my mind ... Mama! On the mantel place ... sat my mother's urn ... her ashes. My mother died several months prior this happening. Instantly I thought of promises made one day before she died. We were laughing, talking about dying one day ... knowing that couldn't ever happen. Not to us. We promised each other that if at all possible 'if' one of us died ... the other would come back, do something to let the other know we'd come back. Mama! I knew it was my mother, I just knew it was. Movement from my desk drew my attention ... it was like I'd seen on tv ... my monitor screen began scrolling! I couldn't believe my eyes ... it had never done that before. I walked to my desk ... I couldn't understand how the screen began scrolling ... I placed my hand on the mouse, moved it. It didn't affect what was happening. I jumped when I heard a loud sound in the kitchen! What in the world was that? It sounded as if dishes had fallen, crashed to the floor! I ran into the kitchen. The dishes I had stacked neatly in the dish drainer were in the sink! That wasn't possible! There weren't many dishes in the drainer ... how could they crash into the sink ... not one dish was broken. I just stood there. I remembered the mist ... I ran back to our bedroom. I hoped it was gone. The mist was still there! I walked quickly into the room while I waved my hands through the air. The mist stayed ... it wouldn't move at all. How could the air/mist not move? There wasn't any smell. I looked at my mother's ashes ... her urn sitting on the mantelpiece. Mama! it's you, Mama! The mist stayed in the room for several hours. I walked by the opened door at different times... strange the mist didn't come out the bedroom door ... it stayed in the bedroom. Later that evening before Skip got home ... the mist ... disappeared. The next day I came back home. I entered the gate after unlocking it. The Pups were happy to see me ... I was happy to see them. I walked into the back door ... stopped in pure shock ... the mist was back into the bedroom! I walked into the room again ... waving my hands around. I was sniffing the room for the smell of smoke. I couldn't smell anything! The mist didn't move ... it filled the room from corner to corner. I sat down on the end of the king-size bed. I put my hands over my eyes, rubbed them. I looked around me ... the mist was still there. I stood up ... looked toward the fireplace ... at my mother's ashes. Mama! I know that's you! The mist disappeared by evening time ... it never came back again. I wasn't ever afraid of it ... I was only afraid it could be something burning. Once I satisfied myself that it wasn't smoke ... I was okay. I have seen many strange things in my life ... there wasn't any doubt this was my mother. One more thing happened that I knew was my mother ... it was the day I went into my wardrobe to get a box with my new sneakers. When I opened the box to take my shoes out ... rice fell to the hunter green carpet. I couldn't believe my eyes. Rice was in the box with my shoes. It wasn't there when I purchased my shoes ... of course, I didn't put rice in my box of shoes. The thought that a mouse could have done it went through my mind. The box was intact ... no holes. The wardrobe was new ... I still checked the floor of it, the walls ... no holes. We lived in an old historic house ... so, I was thinking a mouse could have gotten in. It wasn't a mouse. Mama! The wardrobe sat across from the fireplace where my mother's urn sat. My mother had kept her promise from the other side. I knew this deep down ... I knew nothing else could have caused those strange happenings. If I hadn't known what we promised that day ... hadn't seen those things with my own eyes ... it would be hard to believe. This is all true. I won't argue this with anyone, nor say it could have been this ... been that. I know what it was ... it was signs from my mother from the other side. She kept her promise ... she came back because it was ... possible. Note by this Author: This is a true story written by this author ... Gloria Faye Brown Bates/aka Granny Gee. I never thought I'd want more of their presence :) I think all I had in mind ... she kept her promise! I saw it, I heard it, I experienced it ... it was real.

Your mother did want you to know that she was near you. She did quite a good job of making sure that you realized it was her.

I understand, @jillybean1222 ... I have had several things happen, besides the dragonflies. If I hadn't seen it ... it'd be hard to believe, understand.
