Sign of Pure Air

There is a certain simple yellowish plant that usually grows on rocks or tree trunks called "lichen". The physical appearance of plant doesn't have flowers, true leaves and roots. The manner of growth is very slow. It is considered an ancient form of living plants. A hand-size of lichen on certain rocks are hundred years old. The essential importance of this plant gives a sign of pure air. Meaning, if they found on rocks or building structures are sign of pure air in the surroundings. I guess we need to have such plant in the house. The lichen is like a detector for having pure air.

I've seen that in our laundry area where I put a cut trunk from mango tree, I thought it's an algae, now I know, we still have pure air here in our place and I consider it true because we are free from pollution.

They really are wondrous the lichen and all their forms, functions, and colors. I remember as a child finding them in woods and being fascinated with them.

@TiarasOceanView I also experience the same thing. Since I grew up in the mountain, I appreciated the beauty of nature for having fresh air with the help of lichens.

i dont think ive seen one around here or ever. thats cool though if its a fact. i might share this to my mom. she loves flowers..

well, our neighbors tend to make huge bonfires and smoke so I don't see this stuff. or probably hiding somewhere.
