The Miami Dolphins confirmed on their Twitter account on Saturday they have released former Green Bay Packers wide receiver Greg Jennings.
Jennings had signed a two year, $8 million dollar contract with the Miami Dolphins before the start of the 2015 football season.
Jennings played in 16 games for the Dolphins catching 19 passes for 208 receiving yards and scored one touchdown which is below his production as a wide receiver who has played for the Green Bay Packers and the Minnesota Vikings during his ten seasons in the National Football League as a second round draft choice of the Green Bay Packers in the 2006 National Football League Draft out of Western Michigan University.
Jennings is free to seek employment with another team in the National Football League before the start of the 2016 football season even though at age 32 he will be considered past his prime as a top wide receiver for any team in the league.
If another team signs Jennings to join their team he will likely serve as a mentor to the younger players on the team.
The Dolphins released Jennings since they felt they could not afford to pay his $4 million dollar salary for the 2016 football season.

I love how these teams sign a player then decide a year later they can't afford him. I wish baseball had the release system like the NFL so they aren't stuck with paying unproductive players.

Good point that you have that MLB should adopt of the polices of the NFL in regard to getting rid of unproductive players.
