Costco or Sams Club membership?

Looking for insight on these club stores. Is it worthwhile to buy a membership to either? I saw online it costs $45 .00 to join Sams Club for 1 year, not sure about the cost to Costco. I know a few people who have joined Costco for buying things in bulk, but is it really worth it? This is what I wonder. I find it annoying/wasteful to have to Spend only to shop (seems like a money pit) but Ive never been to either to determine if paying for the membership is worthwhile - if the savings are perhaps greater than the cost of membership. What do you think? Have you been a member of either? Any word?

It is worth it if you buy enough in bulk. Also joining them allows you to give someone else access to the discounts. Now if you don't buyin bulk or have a large family it may not be good for you. I have a large family so buying in bulk is useful to me and buying in places like the ones you mentioned actually are good for me verses the small chains that don't carry everything in bulk for such low prices.

A membership could be worth it if you know your prices. Currently I don't have my own, but my mom does and she picks up juice boxes, apple sauce cups and snacks for my kids school lunches for me. I hope to get my own membership this summer.

I had a Costco membership and only used it once. They only accept their own credit card or you have to use debit. I now have a Sam's Club membership and prefer it over Costco. I go at least once a month. I think it is worth it but I can't guarantee that you will.

Thats good to hear because most seem to prefer Costco over Sams. Is there any other reason besides the debit card thing?

is it possible to go shopping with those who have the cards, and you can then judge whether you will use the membership card for long. Nobody knows what you need or use or the distance between your place to either stores. Best that you go with someone else, and check out the store aisle by aisle, and you can make the decision later.

If you don't have a big family to shop for, I personally don't think that it is worth it.

I've had a Costco membership for many years and I think it's worth it. It's a great store and they have good prices for buying in bulk. Plus Costco offers a lot of free food samples throughout the store. It's a great freebie.
