Day 18 – Listen
Job 18
How do people react when you don’t take their advice? Do they accept you might have better advice or reject you as someone who won’t listen?
Bildad was upset because Job wouldn’t accept his counsel or that of the others who already had their say in trying to get him to admit he had done something wrong to be wallowing in affliction as he was.
Only you know whether what you are going through is because you were disobedient to anyone, even God. If you are like most people, you know right from wrong. You know whether what you’re going through is a result of disobedience. It would be the first thing you would examine to determine why you are going through your current crisis.
Bildad accounted for what would happen to people who didn’t do right. God does cast them off as he described. However, when you do what is right, as Job did, you have nothing to fear from God.
Throughout God’s Word we see we are to reason out what we hear and do. We are not to pay attention to bad counsel.
Isaiah 1:18 Come now, and let us reason together, says the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.
Psalm 1:1 Blessed is the man that walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful.
As Christians, when we follow what Jesus taught us our lives will be a living testimony of God’s grace and mercy. We will stand before God in robes of righteousness because the blood of Jesus covers us and declares us not guilty.
1 Corinthians 6:11 And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God. (KJV)
Hebrews 10:22 Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water. (KJV)
Revelation 1:5 And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,
6 And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen. (KJV)
Revelation 7:13 And one of the elders answered, saying unto me, What are these which are arrayed in white robes? And whence came they?
14 And I said unto him, Sir, thou know. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.
Satan would see us destroyed for everything that happens to us, telling us we are weak, spineless, and disobedient just as Bildad told Job he was as he tried to get him to confess to something he didn’t do.
However, it is God, not Satan, who determines whether we lived our lives according to his instructions and didn’t follow the ways of the world. If our hearts are right, we have nothing to fear from anyone who comes against us. No matter what they say to try to get us to believe we are not who we claim to be – children of God.
Let’s pray: Father, thank you for giving me your Word to show me right from wrong, so I might live for you and not follow the ways of this world. Help me live my life in such a way that Satan’s barbs will not hurt me. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.

Guess who? :) These days, I don't give advice much at all. But I do watch the Mass daily and I listen intently to the Word of God for His advice to me. For weeks now, He has been telling me to be kinder and nicer to those around me. Well, since I don't see people much at all anymore, I've had to see where I'm failing. And I realize that it's been more "poor me" and less "what can I do for you" in my life. And so I've been turning it around and feeling better for it. God's advice is always right and just and it feels good to just give in and do it.

Glad you made it. I told everyone you were coming, not by name, but I thought Rose was part of your username. Just shows you how much I remember
You're right. God's advice is the best advice.
