As an exact date today, March 8. We celebrate International Women’s Day! For women who had showed their courage and rights in the society. They deserved to be in the highlight today. Some people would forget the essence of being a woman, then it is the reminder that we need to advocate the women empowerment not only within the country but also across the country. In my country, we don’t have fancy celebration. That’s the sad thing. However, the local people know the importance of it. Since women in my homeland are more independent individuals compared during the old days. It can also evident in other country, women take the biggest role in the society. In contrast to some country, women remain left behind and continued to serve man as if they are slave. We can’t blame them since it is in the culture.

That's good that this festival is also available in your country. Here due to the business promotion, everybody becomes to think it is a big day. We even called it as "Queens' Day" rather than "Women's Day" But actually it is just an ordinary day for me.

@youless It would be nice if all women will not work today. Unfortunately, it appears like normal special day for women.

@Shavkat Surprisingly, today I didn't have to work in the afternoon. We had a half day off work. But it is still like an ordinary day for me.

I didn't celebrate it but I did think back to my grandmother. She was born in 1898. She went to University then worked as a teacher. She gave up her teaching job when the soldiers returned from the first world war. But she worked hard as a volunteer all her life developing programs for mentally ill people in her city.

@paigea That's a noble thing your grandmother do during the WWI. This kind of service cannot be replaced by anybody and should be remembered. I salute your granny for sacrificing her service without any returns.

@arthurchappell It has been 100 years that this special day for women. However, it wasn't declared an official holiday for women. I think they deserve not to work this day.

They deserve to be greeted. With all the sacrifices they did, it really paid off.
