Day 20 – Condemnation
Job 20
You don’t need anyone to condemn you when you bring it on yourself and condemn your own actions. However, there is always someone waiting to tell you when you do something wrong. In fact, they don’t even hesitate, they don’t wait for an invitation to condemn you and tell you how bad you are, they just come right out and do so.
Zophar was just such a person.
Job 20:1 Then answered Zophar the Naamathite, and said,
2 Therefore do my thoughts cause me to answer, and for this I make haste. (KJV)
As soon as Job stopped speaking, he opened his mouth in condemnation of everything Job said. Job spoke about his confidence in God and seeing him on the last day. Zophar told him he wouldn’t see anyone when he died. Not even the earth would remember him.
Satan doesn’t want us rejoicing in our salvation. He wants us wallowing in the pit of despair. I don’t know about you, but I’ve seen that pit and I have no intention of going near it, let alone wallowing in it.
As Christians we know our place is with God, not without him. We can rest on all the promises God gave us. We look forward to Jesus’ return because we will be with him.
Satan wants us to live a defeated life, full of condemnation, shame, guilt and everything that can bring a person into the pit of despair.
Your place is not in the pit of despair, but in the courts of heaven if you accepted Jesus as your Savior and Lord.
Jesus defeated Satan on the cross. When he rose from the grave, he sealed his judgment. Satan won’t accept defeat, but will do everything he can to destroy everyone he can and keep them from the salvation God offered through his Son.
Don’t let anyone, even you, condemn you because greater is he that is in you than he that is in the world. Remember also, you can do all things through Jesus Christ, who gives you strength.
You don’t need to live a defeated life. Stop listening to the lies Satan brings your way and start living a life of victory, and remember to tell Satan Jesus defeated him and he has no jurisdiction over your life.
Let’s pray: Father, help me see through Satan’s lies regarding me and keep me out of the pit of despair. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.
