Free agent quarterback Brock Osweiler, 25, on Wednesday has reached a contractual agreement of four years, $72 million dollar contract with the Houston Texans according to a report from John McClain of the Houston Chronicle.
Osweiler was a second round draft choice of the Denver Broncos in the 2012 National Football League Draft out of Arizona State University.
Osweiler was the second string quarterback of the Broncos behind Peyton Manning during his tenure with the current Super Bowl champions.
Manning announced his retirement after 18 seasons in the National Football League on Monday. The Broncos have Trevor Siemian as the only quarterback on their current roster as of Wednesday.
Osweiler turned down a three year, $45 million dollar contract to remain with the Broncos.
Osweiler did start seven games for the Broncos during the 2015 football season with a record of five wins and two losses while Manning was recovering from a foot injury that sidelined him.
The Broncos will have to find a replacement quarterback via the free agent market since it will be impractical to have Trevor Siemian as the only quarterback on their roster before the start of training camp later this year.
Osweiler will have a chance to work with Texans head coach Bill O'Brien who will have a chance to mentor a quarterback who spent four seasons as the backup to Peyton Manning who is considered one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time.
It is evident that Osweiler decided to go with a higher paying job with the Texans since they are some people who are suggesting he was unhappy being the shadow of Manning during his tenure with the Broncos.

There are reports that he had stop communicating with the Bronco's the past couple weeks so they knew he was looking to go elsewhere. As an average quarterback, at best, that is a lot of money the Texans paid for him. Hope he can rise above average and really earn that money. We'll see if the Texans high pay day will be a win or a bust.

Maybe a change of teams will do Osweiler some good since he will be working with Texans head coach Bill O' Brien who was a way of getting some production from his quarterbacks like Ryan Fitzpatrick.

This is definitely a matter of dollars and cents. I guess he gets a Super Bowl ring. Did he even play in the game?

Osweiler started seven games during the 2015 football season with a record of five wins and two losses before Manning replaced him in the final weeks of the regular season. He did some playing time during garbage time during his previous seasons with the Broncos during his four seasons with the team. I do not blame him for taking the Texans offer since he has an extra year compared to the Broncos offer.

If Osweiler had stayed in Denver, he would have been constantly compared to Peyton Manning. He would have remained in Manning's shadow.
Now he'll have a new start in Houston.
