Oakland Athletics beat reporter Jane Lee reported the news from Mesa Arizona on Wednesday that Oakland Athletics manager has selected right handed starting pitcher Sonny Gray to be his Opening Night starting pitcher. The Athletics will be hosting the Chicago White Sox at O.Co Coliseum on April 4, 2016. Gray joins former Athletics starting pitchers Dave Stewart and Rick Langford who have pitched in three straight Opening Day games for the Athletics. Gray will be making his third Opening Day start in 2016. Gray was a first round draft choice of the Oakland Athletics in the 2011 Major League Baseball Draft out of Vanderbilt University. Gray made his debut in the Major Leagues on July 10, 2013 with the Athletics. Gray has recovered from an injury to his left hip that sidelined him in late September 2015. The Athletics seek to improve their record of 68 wins and 94 losses in the 2016 baseball season. Gary is the ace of the Athletics starting pitching staff which is one reason he will be making his third straight Opening Night starting pitching assignment.

That's a no brainer. The big question is when or if Billy Beane is going to trade Gray as he can get a boatload of prospects for him.

The way that Billy Beane run the Athletics with his Moneyball stance is very interesting to put it mildly.

@Deepizzaguy At best, he built teams that could make the playoffs but never get out of the first round. His "genius" is a joke. It is forgotten he made his so-called reputation when the team had Zito, Mulder and Hudson starting and Giambi, Tejeda and Chavez in the lineup.

@JohnRoberts I agree with you. The Athletics should be winning World Series titles like they did in the 1970s not just make the playoffs.
