Writing Prompt: Night Owl or Morning Person?

Hello there, fellow MyLotters. I found a writing prompt I wanted to do, so why not do it now? The writing prompt asks "Are you a night owl or a morning person? Explain why and what you like doing at night or early morning." I think I am more of a night owl than a morning person. I'll go to bed and get up at a decent time during the week, but when I have the chance to stay up and sleep in a little later, I'll do it. I am usually online when I stay up later, whether I am writing/blogging or chatting with friends. I may be in bed playing games on my tablet as well. Sometimes I'll watch a movie, one of my sitcoms or read when I stay up late. I just like to enjoy the peace and quiet. I think that pretty much answers the writing prompt. I do try to stick with a decent sleep schedule, but I may stay up later during the weekends. Alrighty, I'm gonna try to get a little work done. You all have a good day and take care.

I write morning, 'noon, and night. but I do have a strict rule - if I write it at night, never ever publish it without editing it in the morning.

That's a good rule. I try not to write super late because I get tired, and I noticed from the Textbroker editors that I tend to miss words (even when proofreading) when I write super late.

@pgiblett Oh yeah. My eyes are tired and my mind starts wandering, and it's just better to wait until I'm awake and alert.

@tammys85 I am glad to see this is true for others.

I've always been more of a morning person. I'm more alert and away in the morning, and earlier in the day. I was a bit more of a night owl during university, but I reverted back to being a morning person when I had kids. My husband has always been a night owl, and just has a hard time getting up with them early in the morning.

I think I'm more of a night owl than a morning person, but I need to find a happy medium. I get up early during the week, not as early as some -but early enough for me, and I'd like to be more alert rather than still trying to "wake up".

@tammys85 That's a good way of doing it. My husband is more of a night owl. I think he tends to be more awake and alert around 8 or 9. But he does try not to go to bed too late.

I think i am a night person in that case . I would even be awake at 12 just watching my missed soaps on weekdays and i have to wake up 5:00 a.m. to prepare breakfast and myself for work . And Fridays and Saturday , they surely are my late nights days because anyway , i can oversleep the next day .

Right, I try to get to bed and up at a decent time during the week, but I don't care during the weekend, unless I have plans that require me to get up early lol.

I'm a night owl and ther is no reason for why I just am. When I,mum late at night all of a student I have all this emery and need to be awake. I watch tv or knit or even take care of my kids in the middle of the night as need.

I think some people are just naturally a morning person or night owl. I've been more of a night owl since graduating high school in 2003. I didn't stay up past 11pm/midnight as much during my high school years (weekends that is; I went to bed by 11pm on school nights).

@tammys85 I've always been a night owl. I'll be up till 1 or 2 morning. Some times I'll fall a sleep at 11 or midnight. I also still nurse so I tend to go to bed right after the first late night nursing section.

I am a morning person since I started working early every day. I think my body got used to the early hours and I am waking up early even on weekends now. A few years ago I used to be a night owl, back then I was able to make my own schedule for the day though. By comparing those two phases in my life, I think I am more productive as a morning person and I can get more things done when I start early in the morning. It depends on the person and the circumstances I think.

I need to get my body used to a regular sleep schedule again. It's been going back and forth ever since high school.

@besweet Aaah, gotcha. I've done it before, I just need to force myself to do it again. Like I may have to actually force it this time around since I have become used to it.

@tammys85 I was forced to stay consistent with the morning schedule by work. Also I used to be late all the time when I was meeting freinds etc, now I am trying to fix that too. It's nice to keep a regular schedule with sleeping hours and let the body adapt to it, you will notice a big change in your energy levels if you try it for a few months.

I'm a morning person who wishes to be a night owl. I read and watch TV at night after I go offline for the evening. Then I go to bed at 10 on some days, others at 11 AM. I tend to wake up between 7:15-7:30 AM every day, even if I'm not at the gym.

Gotcha. It sounds like your body is on a specific schedule, which can also be good. I hope you can at least stay up late, if you want, on the nights/days where you don't have to be on a schedule.

@tammys85 Not too late. 10-11 PM is as far as I can go, weekends and weekdays. I wake up with the sun.

@KristenH I need to aim for 11pm on most weekdays, minus Mondays and some Wednesdays, due to Monday Night Raw and American Horror Story (both only run over by a few minutes though so there's no reason to be up super duper late).

I'm a night owl by choice. Well, I blame it on the insomnia but I think if I took a sleeping pill at 10pm I could be in bed by midnight, but I like my quiet time and, truth be told, a show comes on the television that I just can't turn off and I stay up and watch.

Right, sometimes it's nice to just enjoy the peace and quiet once everyone else is asleep. I love my family of course, but you know what I mean lol.

I need to get into a better sleep schedule. I don't care to go to bed real early, but I don't like staying up super late either.

I don't blame you for not wanting to stay outside at night, and I hope you're able to get Internet inside soon.

Nightowl over here. Something about turning in early for the night makes me think my day wasn't lived to the fullest.

I know I -should- turn in early, but sometimes I don't want to, even if I'm in bed watching TV, reading or playing on my tablet.
