Red Skies

I sat beneath the sky that was neither night nor day. A red hue was cast upon the land and nothing dared move in the stillness of the land. Whatever was here before isn't now. Only shadows and ruins.
The skies are red. Like a wound that was torn open, crimson has stained the clouds and the parts that were once blue. No longer is this a world fit for life. It's no one's world now.
I don't remember the before times, since they were so long ago. It was before the great cities were submerged by the rising seas. It was before the heat became unbearable across the globe. It was before the wars. It was before the awakening.
Now there's no one. And in a world of ruin, I can only sit and watch as this world of red deteriorates before my eyes. It's okay, I have plenty of time.

Thank you. I had to write when the moment was right for the thought.

This is both sad and seemingly happy. Oddly.

I guess there's a happiness in stillness and knowing that the world is at peace despite losing what was.

Well in that story all big life was eliminated, so I basically was just hanging out regardless of whatever the situation had become.
