Today Leticia came to my house and told me how everything was going.
Jorge drove a big garbage truck. He had noticed that there was something weird with the brakes so he called his supervisor. The man told him not to worry.
So he went to work. And he smashed the truck agaist another, bigger, truck. His legs got entangled in the nearly cabin and they were both crushed from knees down. It seems that the man that was at his side started to cry and did nothing but, fortunatly, the driver of the other truck who got without even a stratch, called an ambulance and the cops.
They rushed him to the best traumatological hospital there is in Chile. It started as a hospital made for worker´s accidents with the aid of worker´s syndicates. There the doctors started to do as much as they could.
From what Leticia told me, there will be an endless amount of surgery. At the moment he is in a good mood as probably they have him with powerful pain killers.
The nurse told hum that they could change him to a seated position in a wheel chair for a while. Jorge was shocked and told them that he did not want a wheelchair. But he will have to accept it. I don´t think that he will be able to walk in months. I don´t think that Leticia is aware of that either, but I guess that we will have to see one thing at a time.
We will have to pray that there is no infection in his legs. Fortunatly he has been throughly checked and does not have any internal bruises.
Please, keep him in your prayers. There is a long road to health and now doctors are taking care of his legs. But I dread how will he take it later, when doctors finally decide how much time will he need for rehabilitation.

He will need prayers for a long time. And so will Leticia.

@simone10 I believe in the power of colective prayer, no matter what the religion

@marguicha It will be difficult so they will just have to take one day at a time. Prayers are always helpful.

Oh dear. The legs being crushed from knees down is something of concern. And multiple surgeries are going to be painful too. Still I admire the zest and liveliness of Jorge - who does not want a wheelchair.
I dont know much but I have been told that if the doctors keep a vigil and the patient stays in the Air Conditioning of the ICU the chances of getting infections are reduced. But then, it is always the severity of the case and the patient's will power and immune system.
Keeping his well being in my prayers. Sending out warm hugs and vibes for his family and him.
And thanks @marguicha for keeping us informed and being the link between us.

@marguicha Sometimes, it is always wiser to keep things to ourselves. Does not ease the pain or even change what will have to happen, but still, it helps others keep going strong.

Leticia told me that he doesn}y have pain in his legs, only a headache. So I suppose that he is with heavy sedation. I do hope he does´t lose his faith or patience.

@marguicha How unfortunate. One can only wish for his recovery and that his legs will be okay after the surgeries.

I am heartbroken! He is such a wonderful youngman! I have known him since he was a teen when he came to help me with the garden instead of hanging out with the good for nothing boys in his neighborhood.
