Day 22 – Accusations
Job 22
We have all dealt with accusations at some point in our lives. How did or do you handle those accusations? Do you dispute it? Or were the accusations true?
Eliphaz made accusations against Job.
Job 22:1 Then Eliphaz the Temanite answered and said,
2 Can a man be profitable unto God, as he that is wise may be profitable unto himself?
3 Is it any pleasure to the Almighty, that thou art righteous? Or is it gain to him, that thou make thy ways perfect?
4 Will he reprove thee for fear of thee? Will he enter with thee into judgment?
5 Is not thy wickedness great? And thine iniquities infinite?
6 For thou hast taken a pledge from thy brother for naught, and stripped the naked of their clothing.
7 Thou hast not given water to the weary to drink, and thou hast with held bread from the hungry.
8 But as for the mighty man, he had the earth; and the honorable man dwelt in it.
9 Thou hast sent widows away empty, and the arms of the fatherless have been broken.
When people makes accusations, they need to back them up with proof. However, Eliphaz didn’t have any proof. In fact, it was Eliphaz who made the first statement against Job, but there he commended Job for his good works.
Job 4:1 Then Eliphaz the Temanite answered and said,
2 If we assay to commune with thee, wilt thou be grieved? But who can withhold himself from speaking?
3 Behold, thou hast instructed many, and thou hast strengthened the weak hands.
4 Thy words have upheld him that was falling, and thou hast strengthened the feeble knees.
5 But now it is come upon thee, and thou faintest; it touches thee, and thou art troubled.
Did Eliphaz forget the honorable things Job did in the space of a few days? Job couldn’t be both good and evil.
As Christians, Satan will do his best to cloud the facts with unjust accusations against us as well. His words against us will be so convincing people will forget the good we do and believe the lie.
1 Peter 5:8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walks about, seeking whom he may devour:
9 Whom resist steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.
We need to remember what Jesus said. The world hates us, and will do what it can to destroy us. Satan is in charge of the world until Jesus returns for his bride. At which time Satan’s final judgment will be upon him as well as all those who rejected Jesus as Savior and Lord.
James 1:1 James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad, greeting.
2 My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;
3 Knowing this, that the trying of your faith works patience.
4 But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.
James 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.
When we remember whose we are, we will have no trouble facing the accusations, which are nothing but lies from Satan. Do not listen to what others say about you. You know the truth, and your actions will show people the truth.
Let’s pray: Father, thank you for your truth that set me free from the law of sin and death. Hide me in you so that I will be able to resist Satan and all his lies against me. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.
