The Indianapolis Colts on Friday have signed to a two year contract former Green Bay Packers quarterback Scott Tolzien. With the retirement of Matt Hasselbeck at the end of the 2015 football season, the Colts needed an extra quarterback to serve as the backup to Oliver Luck before the start of the 2016 football season. The Colts have Stephen Morris as the other quarterback on the team besides Luck who has been the starting quarterback of the Colts since the 2012 football season when he was the first round draft choice of the Colts in the 2012 National Football League out of Stanford University. Tolzien was the backup quarterback of the San Francisco 49ers from 2011-2012 behind Alex Smith and the backup quarterback with the Green Bay Packers from 2013-2015 behind Aaron Rodgers. Even though Tolzien wanted to sign a deal with a team that would give him a chance to be their starting quarterback, he will likely have to settle to be the backup quarterback of the Colts behind Oliver Luck in 2016. The Colts will have an upgrade for a backup quarterback after they released Josh Freeman and Ryan Lindley at the end of the 2015 football season.

I have never heard of him. Hope it works out for their team. I guess the biggest surprise is the Bronco's getting Mark Sanchez from the Eagles yesterday. Didn't see that coming as I heard reports that they are interested in obtaining Colin Kapernik from the 49er's if they can get a deal done. Time will tell what will be. This has been one of the more interesting off seasons in a long while for most teams. Have a blessed day

Scott was a third string quarterback for the Packers during his time with the team is why is not well known in the league. The Packers have success getting their backups to be successful with other teams like former New Orleans Saints quarterback Aaron Brooks who was the first Saints quarterback to lead the Saints to a playoff win over the St Louis Rams years ago.
