My Hero: Part 2

Devin is seven years old, I am five. Devin taught me to count. I can count to ten very easily: One two three four five six seven eight nine ten. Devin can count to really high numbers, he probably knows all the numbers, but I have never heard him go all the way to the end. He is my only brother. I had another brother, but he died. I don’t remember him. I remember the awful scream my mom let out. I remember the fire truck. But I think that the picture I have of him in my head is not him, but just another baby I have seen. My mom has a new baby in her now. My parents want a girl. Me and Devin do not. We live in Washington. We live in Bonney Lake; it is the same town my dad moved to when he was twelve. One day, when I am twelve I will go on an adventure with Devin. We didn’t always live in Washington. We used to live in California. California is really far away from Washington. I liked it better in California. In Washington it is cold all the time. We live with my Nana and my Grandpa. In California we lived next to my Grandma and my Grandpa. I like my Grandma more than my Nana. My Nana makes me eat oatmeal and I hate oatmeal. I have to sit at the table until the oatmeal is gone. Devin has to wait until I am done to play with me, so when Nana isn’t looking, Devin takes bites of my oatmeal. He is my hero. To be continued...
