Why can’t you use your own email id?

It is quite disturbing to get a mail in my inbox mentioning that I have created (successfully) another email id with my existing id as primary mail id. I have no idea who created this mail id. This is the second time I have received a notification from the gmail team. Fortunately gmail team provided a link where I can click and detach the new mail id with my existing id, if I do not recognize this activity. I visited the link and detached my mail id from the newly created id. Earlier I received another notification informing that I have signed up in amazon and also placed an order. They send the invoice and other information to my mail id. I really wonder why these people are using a third party’s mail id for their purposes. Do you think some one done this as a mistake?

I agree with @Owlwings as I too have been receiving such emails almost once or twice per year. As for Amazon, it will be good if you check it on Amazon (or the Invoice) for the shipping address. If it is yours, it is something that might be concerning - as Amazon mostly has the COD (cash on Delivery) options. If it is paid already, and you are the recipient, you can enjoy the gifts. I had a similar issue with someone using my email to create an account on Adobe and I later found out that it was some typo on their part but their mistake had my account set up unnecessarily on Adobe. I had emailed them (Adobe) about this, but it seems they never read the email.

The shipping address was not mine and it is on cash delivery. So no chance to enjoy the gift. Moreover, only the mail id was mine I got all the updates from amazon site including the details of shipping orders and delivery status. I could not help but simply watching on the same. Two days ago I signed up myself in amazon, where they informed me that the same mail id is using in amazon but with a different user name. I can use the same mail id but the old id become cancelled. I have chosen my mail id.

@thesids You tell me what you want dear brother. I don't mind to buy an item for you on 'cash on delivery basis'

@Sreekala Do Didi has a new Amazon Account. They have some real cool offers and I am waiting for Holi with expectations that some goods of use to me would be offered at very affordable prices. I had purchased some stuff already from them last Diwali and it was really so much cheaper. Quality is also quite okay going by the prices I invested and so not too many complaints. Just thinking what are you going to buy me

I have not encountered the same experience yet. But at least notifications are being sent to you so you can immediately do something.

I think it's probably a mistake, and as you got notification you were able to rectify it.

May be. Just annoyed on getting repeatedly the same message on creating different emails.

Yes, I'm afraid @JolietJake is correct. This person is not acting honestly.

@Sreekala I think that goes a long was in protecting you. And if it was an honest mistake, the other person will sort it out. Best of luck.

Anyone can use my mail id but no one can open my mail. I have activated step-2 verification too for protecting my mail.

Did you check in with Amazon and let them know that you placed no such order? I get "your order is on it's way" SPAM emails, but I don't think I've received an actual "invoice."

Try using(signing in) your mail id only on trusted devices/System.
