Bridge tag is about to start

The little town I live in is divided by a major shipping canal. There are 3 bridges, and there is always supposed to be at least one available for vehicular traffic. last September, one of the main bridges was hit by a boat, causing enough damage that they had to close it to vehicles until repairs could be made. The repairs couldn't start until shipping season was over and parts could be brought in. They finally started repairs in February, and they are finishing them up this week. Just in time for the new shipping season to begin! So while we will now have use of all 3 bridges again, we will have to contend with the ships as well. It is not so bad for me, as I start with the nearest bridge and work my way north to find an available bridge. As well, there is a website I can check for the bridge statuses. Hopefully there are no major bridge issues to deal with this year.

I am sure that you have to leave extra early when you have an appointment, just in case you get caught by a bridge being closed. It is nice to live where you can watch the ships going through.

As long as all 3 bridges are operating normally, you shouldn't be held up more than 5-10 minutes. 2 years ago we had an issue where only one was operating (one was under construction and the other was out of commission due to a malfunction and needed to be inspected) and a boat was going through at rush hour. I ended up 30 minutes late to work.

Nope! I am not planning on anything like that.
