Not My Usual Day

After making it through the notifications I took a shower to get ready for tonight's AWANA and then did my son's taxes. So that is done and I don't need to worry about when he's going to have time to do them anymore. AWANA was fun tonight. The kids learned who St. Patrick was and why he is so important to Christianity. Patrick was 16 years old when he was captured and sent to Ireland to be a slave where he was for six years until his escape and returned home. During his time as a slave he spent a lot of time alone and came in close contact with God and became a Christian. After his return home God told him to return to Ireland, which for obvious reasons - his being a slave there - is understandable that he didn't want to do that, but did eventually. While in Ireland he baptized 120,000 people into Christianity and started 300 churches. And that is why the Catholic church made him a saint and we have St. Patrick's Day today. So now I'm home and ready to interact with all of you once again and see what you have been up to while I was busy with taxes and church. Thanks for reading.

@just4him I wondered because the only churches who I know talk about the history of saints in depth are Catholic churches. Did you know there is a Saints of the Bible Book for Dummies? I'm not kidding! Those publishers think of everything.

@just4him Yes, I'm aware. I just assumed you're talking about the ones the pope has made saints, or the saints representing different things in the Catholic church.

I'm not. But they did the teaching on St. Patrick because tomorrow is St. Patrick's Day and he wanted the kids to know the true reason behind the holiday. I attend an Assembly of God church.

Sounds lie you really had a busy day. I was gone for a litlle while this morning, and I did do some myootting before I left. I got done with my shopping qickly, so I could come back in here and work. It has been sort of quiet and I have been falling asleep while posteing. I hate that too, but I will try to stay awake so i can do what I can before i retire for the night.

@just4him I am not making my goal today, but that is okay, as I was gone and have a hard time making it up. I am doing fine anyway.

It was such a busy day here that we did not give a thought to it being St. Patrick's Day.

while I dont worship saints, because, well, to me they were people, people to be honored, not worshipped. Still I think many were very cool.

I don't worship them either. That would be idol worship and no, don't do it. However, it is fun to learn about them. Did you hear the Catholic church is making Mother Theresa a saint?

His life was interesting. I'm sure not the part where he was a slave, but the rest of it.
