The term 'kosher' is often used to describe pickles that are made in the same way as they were traditionally prepared by Jewish pickle makers in NYC. It doesn't necessarily mean that they're Kosher in the sense that they're made according to Jewish dietary laws.
The term can certainly be misleading, can't it?

@eagletrek2 I would have thought that someone who strictly follows the dietary laws would want to verify that by looking for the Kosher certification on the product.
