Well, I already posted someone else's story on this topic. They may have submitted the story in advance of this topic, or the time difference between Ontario, Canada (where I live) and the U.K. may have played a role here. But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. (Matthew 6:3–4 NIV) Anonymous generosity can often be the most fun and freeing. No need for explanations, no expectations of grand thank yous: just a simple act of kindness. Three Options: Leave a note or a small gift for someone anonymously, letting them know why they are appreciated. Set up an anonymous gift for a friend or family member. It could be something that you arrange to have delivered, like a bunch of flowers, or perhaps a subscription for their favourite magazine. You could also set up an anonymous Direct Debit to a charity or a church, using your Stewardship giving account. Get creative. In previous years, challengers have bought items on random couples’ wedding gift lists online. You might buy cinema or theatre tickets and leave them at the box office, with instructions for them to be given to the next customer free of charge. It's up to you!

These are great ideas. Once, when I lived in New York City, I was on the receiving end of a generous act at the subway train station. I was waiting to go through the gates, where you swipe your Metro Card to pay for the train ride, when the man entering in front of me handed me his card and told me to swipe it and pass it along behind me. About six of us got a free ride from a stranger! These small, but surprising gestures cost little and bring much joy. I will try to think of more ways to be like the subway man.
