The next story came later in the day. I had a band aid on my toe where I had scratched it. I had not, however, packed an extra and by the end of the day I needed a new one. I went to the Lair, the student union/store, to get a band aid, but they didn't have any small packages for a price I could afford. The lady suggested I try the student health center, and told me where it was. I limped over there and went in. Now... remember, I have a rather magnificent black eye, getting worse all the time. And, the room was packed with students. I walked in the door and the whole room suddenly went silent except for the TV. Some staff member darted into the back and then the door was filled with staffers staring at me. I'm really not very good at being the center of attention, so I kind of stared back at all of them. Finally, the receptionist asked: "Are you all right?" "Ahhh, I need a band aid for my toe," I replied, pointing at my foot. A room full of students, they moved me to the front of the line and nobody objected. The doctor looked at my eyes, asked me about how I got injured, and, finally, gave me the band aid I needed, even put it on for me.
