The Miami Dolphins on Friday have signed former Indianapolis Colts wide receiver and return specialist Griff Whalen to a contract. The amount of money and length of the contract were not revealed by the Dolphins management on Friday. Whalen was an undrafted free agent in the 2012 National Football League who mad the Colts football team in 2012. Whalen played three seasons with the Colts before a broken rib injury sent him to the injured reserved list on December 21, 2015 which ended his playing football time with the Colts during the 2015 football season. Whalen was released by the Colts on January 1, 2016. Whalen will be competing against Dolphins wide receivers Kenny Stills, Jarvis Miller and DaVante Miller as the Dolphins fourth wide receiver during the 2016 football season as the target of quarterback Ryan Tannehill. Whalen if he does not make the team as a wide receiver will likely be useful as a punt and kickoff return specialist in 2016.
