Even though Philadelphia Phillies manager Pete Mackanin has not made the official announcement on Sunday, the Phillies are likely to name right handed starting pitcher Jeremy Hellickson as the Opening Day starting pitcher.
The Cincinnati Reds will be hosting the Phillies for a three game series at the Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati Ohio starting on April 4, 2016.
Hellickson pitched for the Tampa Bay Rays from 2010-2014 and the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2015.
Hellickson was traded by the Diamondbacks to the Phillies on November 14, 2015 in exchange for Phillies minor league pitcher Sam McWilliams.
Right handed pitcher Aaron Nola will likely be the starting pitcher for the Phillies in the second game of the three game series versus the Reds.

The Phils are non-contenders without an ace these days. Hellickson was decent for the Rays if memory serves.
