Milwaukee Brewers manager Craig Counsell on Monday made the announcement in Phoenix Arizona he will send right handed starting pitcher Wily Peralta to be his Opening Day starting pitcher on April 4, 2016.
The Brewers will be hosting the San Francisco Giants for a three game series to be played at Miller Park in Milwaukee Wisconsin.
Peralta will be making his first Opening Day start in his Major League Baseball career in 2012 with the Brewers.
Counsell is being second guessed since Peralta only pitched in 20 games for the Brewers during the 2015 baseball season with a record of five wins and 10 losses with an earned run average of 4.72.
Peralta has recovered from an injury to his left oblique that placed him on the shelf on September 23, 2015.
Peralta has pitched in four games for the Brewers in 2016 with a record of one win and two losses with an earned run average of 11.70.
Counsell points out that he is confident that Peralta will return to his starting pitching form in 2014 when he won 17 games and lost 11 games with an earned run average of 3.53.
The Giants will send left handed starting pitcher Madison Bumgarner to the mound on April 4, 2016. I know if I were a Brewers fan I would hope that Peralta will shake off the pitching rust by the time Opening Day begins next month.

Peralta is just as good of choice as any. I think too much is made of who's the opening day pitcher. As it's the first game, naturally you are going with number one in the rotation. The Brewers really don't have an "ace." I think Counsell make be trying to bolster Peralta's confidence.

You have a good point with Counsell going with Peralta as his Opening Day starting pitcher.
