My son goes to a preschool that is all about getting people "back to nature." They do a lot of natural projects, interact with animals and participate in the 4H. Meanwhile they do also learn a ton of educational stuff. Since he started school he has been more interested in taking care of animals and the responsibility of having pets so his dad and I decided we would get him some chicks. We got him four chickens about a week ago and he is doing great at taking care of them so far. He loves them it is one of the cutest things ever. I am glad he has this responsibility and he is handling it pretty well for a 3 year old.

Awwww that is the cutest thing I've heard today. It's a very good move. I have no kids yet but I think introducing animals to kids teaches them empathy and kindheartedness.

It also teaches great responsibility since animals aren't easy work.

@farbuoloxusy That's true. The feeding on time and the mess clean up is a lot of work.

I grew up in 4H and had all sorts of poultry. It was great fun and you learn so much. I think its great your 3 year old is excited about animals.

My son is very gentle and great with animals. I think it is all in how they are brought up and he has been around animals his whole life.

I grew up on a farm and we always loved the baby chickens in the spring.

We certainly don't have a farm but that would be so amazing! This year I plan on planting a pretty large garden and a ton of fruit trees. We also plan on getting a pig for food of course and a pony for the boys. I have to start somewhere.
