Why Can't we Stay Alone?

I love to stay completely alone sometimes, but not for long. I have seen that sometimes I can't like reading book, watching movies, listening to music or anything else, only I yearn for human company! If my husband is not present around me or he is busy in something at that time, it becomes so painful!
I just wonder, why does it happen? Is it just a habit, or there is some deep scientific reason?

When we are alone it is only our own voice... our own thoughts that we hear. If we dont like the sound of our own voice or we dont agree with our own thoughts then thats when there is conflict ... then thats the time we look for the company of other humans.

@arundhatiwriter Thank you
Next time your alone try to do an experiment. Listen to what your thoughts are saying and listen to what your body is saying to you. In this process you'll get to know yourself better.

@enlightenedpsych2 It needs a lot of practice to be able to really listen.

That's true Sir, but I am thinking whether it is just a practice through ages, or there is some true psychological factors behind this..

@arundhatiwriter We see some species love to live as a society and the very few alone - lions in the first category and leopards in the second. It is their mental make up and survival skills at play. I can be alone but never feel lonely though we all need others as we are social by nature - siva

@enlightenedpsych2 Agreed, our behaviour is a product of our circumstances. We all change over time as it takes its toll on us - siva

I think its just human nature that it seeks a human company.
It could be friends, spouse, parents or siblings.
The other activities you mentioned are part of discovering our inner self.
I can be loner for days, but at some point I do need human company.
