The Election is coming very near and with this,I could not help but look back also at the past First Ladies of our land. I think it is essential that we don’t just choose a good President but a good First Lady [or First Gentleman] as well.
History states that we used to have a First lady with spending addiction. It was said that during her husband's regime, she was spending $2,181,000.00 for her jewelry in just a day. How could she do this when the poor could hardly eat a meal in a day!
Having another First Lady like her is one big curse. My God forbid!
Did you ever have such kind of First lady in your country?

@SIMPLYD yes those loyalists of Marcos are strongly fighting for Marcos and even telling that our country was rich during the time of Marcos. It is a lie, because records show that our debts multiplied during his time. And the people they killed are not communists but their political enemy and also many innocents were killed also.

@salonga Yes ! I even saw my cousins from Nueva Viscaya , refuting all those talks about Marcos and telling everybody that Marcos has done a lot for the Philippines . And that i agree , though they amassed a lot of wealth alongside those . And Marcos declared Martial law and they said that those encarcerated are really communists so they deserve to be there .
Oh my , how can they be so patronizing , just because he is an Ilocano too .

This is probably one reason I didn't want to vote for his son, because of her controlling and manipulating attitude.

Bong bong admitted that it was her mother who has been pushing him to file candidacy. Good that you are not voting for him. I am not voting his son either. I am not stupid to do that.

I remember hearing about her here in the U.S. If it's the one I remember, her nickname was Steel Butterfly.

@salonga another big gripe of mine, perhaps the biggest gripe... the son does not see the need to apologize for martial law? seriously?!!!
we deserve the leaders that we elect!!!

@allen0187 yes he was even implying that he knew nothing to be sorry about, when in fact he was already mature enough when his whole family were living in a very lavish lifestyle and when doing all those killings of their enemies and innocent people all because of their greed for power.

That is really making me so worried. How could the people forget the bad history? Why does the new generation so deceived by the wrong press releases that this country was better during the martial law? May God forbid that this man ever win.

Hi there! Yeah I remember Imelda Marcos and how she was during the Marcos regime. But it wasn't only her who was like that in the family. Her children spent lavishly and even use our country's name and money when they travel abroad. The Philippines was known as a rich country because of them
! But kidding aside, I wouldn't want that to happen again. Good luck to the Philippines in the coming election.

Certainly, but unfortunately the blind followers who have been brainwashed kept fighting for her.

Yes she is such a disgrace. I hope someone from Argentina can tell something about Evita. I used to believe that she was a good first lady.

Jackie Kennedy was quite the sender but her husband had money so it didn't really matter.

I don't remember any that were excessive with money , I know a few had a drinking problem but I'd probably have one too if my husband was President.

This is awful, no good government figure or affiliates should be that extravagant. The government has been elected to serve the overall good for the people not act like a brainless squanderer. They are public servants not shopping addicts. I pray that the Philippines get leaders who care about the country more than looking glam in bling.
