Day 3 Psalm 3 Psalm 3:1 < LORD, how are they increased that trouble me! Many are they that rise up against me. 2 Many there be which say of my soul, There is no help for him in God. Selah. 3 But thou, O LORD, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head. 4 I cried unto the LORD with my voice, and he heard me out of his holy hill. Selah. 5 I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the LORD sustained me. 6 I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people that have set themselves against me round about. 7 Arise, O LORD; save me, O my God: for thou hast smitten all mine enemies upon the cheek bone; thou hast broken the teeth of the ungodly. 8 Salvation belongs unto the LORD: thy blessing is upon thy people. Selah. Many families find themselves at war with each other. It’s a shame when it happens. Dysfunction seems the norm for family life. Every day we can turn on the news and hear how family members have killed each other. Nothing new there, it’s been happening since Cain killed Abel. David, too, had family trouble with Absalom, his son, and ended up fleeing from him when Absalom wanted to usurp the throne and kill him. Instead, David’s own men killed Absalom when his mule ran under a tree and his hair got caught in its branches. David mourned his son. He had never stopped loving him, despite the trouble he had with him. Many of us can pray this prayer, crying out to God when our children rise up against us, turning against us, and threatening our lives. We must do what is best to remain safe from the evil permeating our family, all the while praying for our family members who would see us destroyed. David fled from Absalom. That was his best course of action. Absalom had gained an army around him, ready to follow him, and help him take the throne from his father. As Christians, our only course of action is to pray and cause our enemy, Satan, to flee. God will take care of our enemies, just as he did for David. We will be able to lie down in safety and sleep when God takes control of the situations in our lives, caused by our family members. Let’s pray: Father, thank you for giving me the assurance you are always there to protect me from any harm caused by members of my family. Help me to pray for them, and know you have all things under control. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen. Copyright © 22 March 2016 by Valerie Jean Routhieaux Image courtesy of Pixabay

I've learned to pray for those I love and those from whom I'm estranged for one reason or another. It just feels better to pray and leave it all in God's hands than to war with anyone. Beautiful Bible study. :)

@just4him Yes, absolutely. I find whenever I go through something that adversely affects me, listening to the Word of God really does help. God always has something productive to say to us. I love that I've found someone else who listens because it helps me stay alert, too! xoxo
