Free agent running back Alfred Morris, 27, has signed a two year, $3.5 million dollar contract with the Dallas Cowboys. Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones on Tuesday issued a statement that Morris will likely have competition to be the backup running back behind Darren McFadden who is the lead running back of the team in the 2016 football season. Morris was a sixth round draft choice of the Washington Redskins in the 2012 National Football League Draft out of Florida Atlantic University. Morris became a free agent at the end of the 2015 football season when his current contract expired. Even though Morris had his goal of playing for the Redskins as his only team in the league, he faced the reality that the Redskins were not able to reach an agreement to keep him on the team with a salary that he wanted. The Cowboys have a better offensive line which will be a benefit for Morris to regain his top running form during his two seasons under former Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan zone run game plan. Morris production as a running back under Redskins head coach Jay Gruden who employs a power running game plan was not as successful in the last two seasons.

McFragile actually played in enough games to be the team's leading rusher? Figures.

That is true. The Cowboys running game was just awful in 2015 with Darren leading the team.
