I heard he most fascinating interview on Family Life Radio out of New York. Dave Price Interviewed Pastor Dave Bretch of the Beartown Road Alliance Church near Corning New York. I simply had to share this program with my readers on My Lot. The title of the program was Avoiding the Election Infection and explains how Christians can participate in this great election and maintain a good Christian Testimony. Pastor Bretch wants Christians to cast their worries on Jesus, realize that God is Sovereign, trust God for the results and then make an educated and informed choice when we vote for our next President. We should be good citizens and participate in the election, but avoid the heated arguments that destroy friendships and relationships. When evaluating candidates we should look at their character, integrity, honesty, trustworthiness, and their positions on public policy issues. We should ask more questions and learn from other people, rather than giving our own opinions. Seek to understand rather than to be understood. People know when you really care about them and then you can talk about politics without getting into a heated debate. For example, we can ask others their views on taxes, and how to succeed in business in the current environment. Christians may give their views on the issues as long as it is done respectfully. It is more important that Christ shines through us than to give our opinions. We should be informed and able to explain our points of view. We should vote and respect other people. The great aspect of our democracy is that we settle differences peacefully at the ballot box and not on the battlefield.

I think there is nothing new with what the Pastor said, they are Christian principles that had been there from the beginning and had made America great, the real problem is we somehow deviated and abused basic freedoms like speech and expression, so it becomes a circus.
Btw it's also election time in the Philippines and the same circus is happening, we had also forgotten what your forefathers taught us about democracy. The good pastor i think is only reminding us what Christ already taught a long time ago
