March 25 Music Birthdays: Aretha Franklin

The fourth of five great music people born on March 25 sends us flying out of the semi-famous and relatively obscure.
Today the highlight is on Aretha.
Aretha Franklin. The Queen of Soul. There are people with "million dollar voices." 'Retha's is worth about $2.6 million. Wow.
She stole the show in The Blues Brothers as the owner of the diner where Matt "Guitar" Murphy worked. She sang a scorching version of "Think" that is worth the price of admission (or DVD purchase) all by itself.
Last December, she did it again. At the Kennedy Center Honors she brought the house down and brought Carole King to tears with her stunning rendition of "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman," a song that King wrote and Franklin had a hit with in the late 60's.
Aretha Franklin will be 74 on March 25. She is a natural treasure.

Aretha is nearly like family to me. I grew up listening to her on the 45s and loved her sound so much.
Truly a wonderful voice and magnetic presence, she commands respect wherever she goes.
