My husband has always had knee issues since college. He got hooked on pain killers just before we got together as a couple. So often since we have been together he has been dealing with pain in his kneed. Well two years back he has knee surgery done on his need to take out osteoarthritis tissue in his knee cause by him being pidgo toed. (This is also and issue we have with our middle son) His knee has been better since having his surgery there are days where when storms come in it give him a hard time which is normal for many people. He knew that over time he would have to have knee replace. So when his knee started to hurt over a week ago and it wouldn't stop hurting he called his doctor and got in right away. He looked at my husbands kneed and told him he has OA (osteoarthritis) which means as his knee bones come together and rub on each other he has no cartilage in his knee from wear down. so all of this OA and fluid si causing him pain. So the doctor told him there was a new inject that he has given to others over the last few years and it has worked for many a small number it didn't work for and it could save off knee replace for years to a good few months. Tuesday he started his first injection and my husband says his knee feels a little bit better a little less pain but he still needs his brace. In a week he does his second one and that should also relieve more pain from his kneed. They have to do this in three section and possibly a 4th one but they won't know till after they do number.I hope this injection therapy works for my husband so we can save off on knee replace for bit longer. He has no more leave for this year till fall when the school year starts over again.

if he feels a little bit better after the first, thats a good sign then. gradually it'll be healed, hopefully. what causes him the OA by the way? is it the food intake?

@MGjhaud The usual cause of OA is having repetitive activity and worn off in time. At the age of 20, our joints started to degenerate and eventually, it can end to osteoarthritis. It can be relieved temporary but pain can never goes away.

@Shavkat knee replacement sounds like a bit too much but i also cant imagine myself relying to pain killers until i die.

His OA is caused by the fact he has no cartilage in his knee any more from his feet being inward as a child. That right there put a lot of pressure on his knees causing damage ans tissue which got fixed 2!uears ago but we already knew Demi that surgery he would need another to have his knee replace. My dad had a partial done this year ans he recorved quickly. What will help lessen his OA is diet, and workout but he has to wait till his knee is a bit better before he can get back to his diet and workout. He has been losing weight slowly. Knee surgery these day are fairly good and a lot better so the healing time is cut in half he can be out of where anywhere between 3 days to two weeks. When it's time for his to done which we are hoping to push back by a year or more with his injections after his 3 or possible 4th he doesn't have to have them done again still 6 months out which is then just one shot. It works for lots of people.

I was interested in this as my partner has a bad knee and should be getting steroid or painkilling injection shortly. hope it works for both of them!

I think it would be better to have an option than having complete knee arthroplasty. However, if you have this kind of procedure, pain free guaranteed since the joint was replaced my metals.

My husband has no more time off for this heat of work unless he wants to quite or be fired which would then be bad since he is the only one that gets health insurance for our family, new also don't really have money for surgery right now. Just because it's ans option doesn't mean it should be taken. You have to take I to account all kid of this. Even my own dad is takin these shots well from the sa,e sought. He has a partial I one kneed done and needs a Kroger but can't ford it to be done just yet since his other isnt 100% yet and is still doing therapy on that one. This injection should give us more time to plan for when he really needs.

Not it's not a steroid it's a jelly kind of injection that acts as cartilage.
