Verizon has had a data breach in March of 2016 which involves the theft of its customer data. There are more than 1.5 millon customers. It involves business and regular customers which bodes ill for customers and businesses. Verizon has not yet responded to questions about how the breach occurred. This does not inspire us with confidence. Is no business safe online?

*sigh* Of course they're my carrier... ugh. You'd think that a company like Verizon would be a bit more on top of their security than that. Guess I'll go put that freeze on my credit reports after all.

Right? Was there an email sent out about their breach?

This is the biggest problem with all of our information traveling on the internet highway. Eventually there will be those who will want our information and cause headaches for us. I love modern technology, don't get me wrong, I just don't like this dark side of it. We've been with them since 2013 without trouble. I'm hoping it stays that way. Have a blessed evening

@Dena91 I hope that Verizon will get there act together and stop the gaps that let the hackers in.

This is amazing, I understand many companies get hacked/breached but you would think someone like Verizon would have stronger security since they are in the business of phone and internet. No company is safe!

@Cintronwriter Anything is possible. It has gotten to the point where we can not trust anyone and any company/agency. Very sad!

Right? Wonder if it's an inside job or the FBI attempting to gather intel for their illegal spying activities.

@Cintronwriter I wondered about the inside job thing. Not all employees are honest.

We don't have Verizon here as far as I'm aware. Is it a communications company?

It seems like these companies do not care if they are hacked. One after another is hacked. Everyone's data is out there when the companies should make a bigger effort to keep it secure.

@akalinus You would think they would do a better job of protecting our information.

@Cintronwriter It just seems like they could try harder. I had my bank card number stolen and used in another state. It had to be someone hacked into the bank files. You would think they would pay someone to work on protecting information.

I hate to think that they don't care. Maybe it's a lapse of judgment on the part of customer service, or, a security patch failure.

@TheHorse Good and maybe with there being so many customers they will only bother with the businesses, we can hope so can't we?

I dont have Verizon thank goodness, but it seems no business is immune to this nowadays. I feel it is only a matter of time before all businesses are breached online. What a horrible thought.

That's not fair, unless they give a credible excuse, their license should be removed and stop servicing their clients for such breach. people deserve to know the truth. have a nice day.

I'm a Verizon customer, and haven't heard a thing from them, yet. Things are getting so out of hand these days!!!!! We just use their mobile phone service.

News to me. I've been with Verizon for close to a decade. Was an email sent by the company notifying customers of the breach?
