Not sure if it is just a Greater London thing, but the old black and white road sign names are undergoing a bit of change.
I do wonder why, as I already know I live in Hillingdon. Still, it is a bit more distinctive. From what I've seen all the boroughs and the two cities in the London area seem to be updating their signs.
At least the signs only seem to change when work is being carried out and specially swapped over.
Next time I am out of the area, must see if other parts of the country are changing their signs as well.

London, one city I must write in my bucket lis if I get my self to fulfill a childhood dream of going on a wanderlust.
Mushy, I also want the old things preserved, like street names. It's how we refer to something we know, when we narrate stories to our friends and acquaintances.
.Say, I must tell that our House of Representatives, all brilliant and probably educated, wrote a thousand laws last year, all changing the street names to their preferred names of their relatives.
London might be a beautiful city but Manila is made exciting by brilliant legislators who change street names every so often as they could.
I apologize for the rant. It is just my country is so beautiful and my own people are destroying it.

Unless the old signs were in bad condition, I have to question the expense of new signs. You the taxpayer pay for them.
