While ambling through Stoke Newington, I found this shop with an example of a 'ghostsign'. The shop is a florists, but at one time they repaired 'fount' pens here and were specialists in Waterman pens. There was a stationary shop here dating from the 1890s, but I haven't been able to find out much more, except they repair any make of pen. I am guessing once biros became popular they went out of business. On the side of the building is an advert for Westminster Criterion matches. On the right of the florists is the Golden Dragon Fish & Chip Shop, which makes me think they do Chinese food as well!

Sounds very interesting. But why do you say 'ghostsign'?

@Ronrybs Okay cool. I like them. I was thinking there could be ghostly connections. I dig ghost stories. Happy Easter pal.

@Ronrybs Actually my daughter was given one at school when her handwriting achieved a certain standard, so maybe they have not faded away yet!

Ghostsigns can be found on old buildings here in the US. Old stores names and soda brands. Sometime they have been preserved which adds to old downtown preservations.
