Lyme Disease - Tick Spray Anyone?

Did you know that once you have Lyme disease it stays in your body? Something that I didn't know until I was diagnosed with it. The test results said that I had tested positive and there were signs of previous Lyme. Um What??!! My doctor couldn't explain it to me. I had to look it up on the web. Yes, I am looking for another primary care physician. So, I after having it once again, possibly making it a third time, I am frantic. How the heck do I keep attracting these little buggers? I only walk across my lawn to get to my car and sometimes I go to the back yard to work in my garden. I met a woman whom I had become acquainted with many years ago, met her again under different circumstances, and now we keep running into each other. Most recently it was for jury duty selection. We got to talking about this that and the other thing, and she told me she too had Lyme. She despises the commercial sprays that are on the market to keep ticks at bay. She concocted her own "tick spray" and said it works quite well. She puts 60 drops of each of the following oils into a 15 ounce spray bottle: Geranium, Cedarwood, Sage, Lemongrass, Eucalyptus, Rosemary, and Lavender. She then fills the rest of the 18 ounce bottle with rubbing alcohol. She said you shake it up before each use and spray it on your body. Depending on what I have on for clothing I would spray my socks and pant legs too. She said that it has worked for her thus far. I am going to give it a try. I do not like the chemicals in the products that are on the market. With Lyme disease on the rise, it is wise to treat your skin and clothing with either a commercial tick spray or if you so choose, a holistic one. I know I am sick of being sick because of Lyme disease. I do not want to get another bout of it. Spray up my friends!

I am sorry to know you have Lyme Elusive. It is a very serious disease and I have read so much about it. I feel fortunate that I have never gotten it. People do need to know natural ways to keep ticks at bay so important. I agree commercial products are nasty. This is a great spray I think.

I am not having fun with it. Sometimes I get these phantom pains and feel fatigued even after resting well the previous night. I forget that it could be the Lyme acting up.

I remember when Jamie Lynn Sigler found out she had Lyme Disease. She never remembers having been bitten by a tick, but obviously, she was. She was only diagnosed when her legs went numb and she had to be checked into a hospital. She still has flare ups. You only have to be bitten once, which like you said, you've come to know. Avril Lavigne is the most recent star I've seen talk about having it. She was so so sick. The first time I heard of it was years and years ago when Rosie O'Donnell had her first talk show. Her (little at the time) daughter Chelsea had been diagnosed. I'm sorry to hear about you having it. That's just awful.

My doctor actually doubted that I had the disease. I told her that I wanted her to do bloodwork and rule it out.

A friend of mine's daughter had this one year, it was quite a few years ago, but it took her a long time to overcome it.

I often don't notice that I have it until I am so tired that I can't move. I remember sitting down for a break because I just couldn't stay on my feet any longer. I woke 30 minutes later. My client said I must have needed the rest or I wouldn't have fallen asleep so fast.

A tick can be as tiny as the head of a pin. I remember feeling a pinch on my legs after walking across my lawn. I looked down and saw little black specks. They wouldn't brush off. I had to dig them out.

It's a scary thing, because it can be pretty devastating.

I have a friend who has it. His doctor said it was the worse case of undocumented Lyme that he had ever seen. His teeth fell out, slept day and night, had absolutely no energy whatsoever, his joints were painful. Often times when you say you have Lyme disease people don't believe that you have any worries. Once you have taken the round of antibiotic they feel you are cured.

I was told to wear a hat if I am going to sit under a tree. What were the symptons that made you go to the doctor?
