What Would You do on a Desert Island?

Suppose you were travelling and a storm destroyed your boat. You managed to swim to an island. Tired and exhausted, you had to find a means to survive. What would you do on a desert island? Would you first look for signs of fresh water and food to eat? Would you seek shelter from the elements? Would you search for any signs that there were people on the island? What would you do?

Depends what is on the island, how big it is, and what my chances are on survival. First thing I would do is get out of the sun. I would love a drink, but depending on the kind of island it is that would probably be very difficult.
If I have a lot of floating supplies from my boat I would scan the shore to see if any of them made it with me. If not I would be on my own. Since I'm a bit of a sand crab I would probably dig a hole for shade and coolness. I don't do well in the sun. If I couldn't find any water right away I would have to consider drinking my own urine, despite how terrible that might taste. So I wouldn't be careless about wasting the precious resource. If there were coconut trees and they had plenty of green coconuts, I would just get water from them. Piercing the eyes on them might be a challenge, but if I could do that, then I would have water that I wouldn't get sick from.
From there I would go about seeing what other ways I might be able to get water, and then food, and of course better shelter, and then trying to see ways I could get help. All the while hoping that there aren't poisonous plants or critters on the island with me, since that would be very bad.

Well thought out plans of action. I would hope that an occasional ship would pass the island and that I could be rescued.

@zebra2222 Well if my ship sunk I would hope that others knew where I was traveling and that someone would send people that way. In the day of gps and such, hopefully they would have a good idea.

with all my might, probably i'll do whatever it takes to get some help. scout for a safe place to stay, food and water or any useful supplies.
