Not only am I obsessed with music, but in particular live music, ever since I saw Eddie Money for my first concert. In the early 80's, when I was a junior in high school, I saw the original lineup of the Pretenders at the City Auditorium in Downtown Colorado Springs. In the crowd, there was a big biker dude standing there, grooving, and wearing his sunglasses upside down. Pure hilarity, whether he meant to or not. The Pretenders rocked, and I especially enjoyed the guitar play by the late James Honeyman Scott. It was as the band was about to launch into their first encore that things got really good, however. None other than Ray Davies walked onstage and did the encores with them (the Pretenders had opened for The Kinks the night before at Red Rocks.) And it was awesome. (If you were on Bubblews, you may have already read a version of this. Since it's been deleted, I might as well bring it over here where it might do some good.)
"Talk of the town" is a song by The Pretenders, released as a single in 1980. It reached #8 at the UK single charts. Later it was released at the album Prete...

I saw Eddie Money, the Pretenders, and the Kinks. Not on the same night, though. . Money was part of my first-ever rock concert (1978). I saw the Kinks in 1979 in Jacksonville (and the one-hit wonder band LeRoux, who did "New Orleans Ladies," opened). And the Pretenders was one of three acts that came to Honolulu when I was stationed there that I actually wanted to see. I saw them in 1984. (Martin Chambers was at the Willie Nelson concert [which I also attended] the night before the Pretenders' show!) Chrissy and Ray were an "item" at one point, and he's the father of one of her children.

@teamfreak16 -- they were notorious in the later years for bad shows when Ray and Dave were fighting. They were getting along the night I saw them...although they did keep on separate sides of the stage most of the night.

At least the R&R HOF inducted the Kinks and Pretenders. Unlike the Moody Blues. Eddie Money isn't HOF material.

Oh yeah, which is more than likely why he came down here. At least, that's what I think. I never did get to see The Kinks.

The only live concerts that I remember attending in 1988 were when Roger Whittaker (The Last Farewell) and Tom Jones came to New Orleans . I also remember attending a concert performed by former Beatle Sir Paul McCartney in the 1990s.

@teamfreak16 The Roger Whittaker show was fantastic especially his last song on stage with a video in the background showing videos of his home country of birth Kenya.

@Deepizzaguy - That sounds pretty cool. I like it when performers do that sort of stuff.

You are talking my language. The Pretenders are one of my favorite groups and Brass in Pocket one of my favorite songs.

I love listening to any kind of music but there are also some that annoys me. I've listened to Eddie Money at a PC game called "GTA San Andreas". The game has Money's "Two Tickets to Paradise" in it.
