It's time to slow the Groovy down for about 6 1/2 minutes.
Led by multi-instrumentalists Brendan Perry and Lisa Gerrard (she did the soundtrack for the movie Whale Rider,) Dead Can Dance formed in the early 1980's and are still going strong all these decades later.
The band is best known, at least to goth's and other alternative listeners, for their song "The Ubiquitous Mr. Lovegrove," a swirling, haunting tune with a little Middle Eastern flair.
"The Ubiquitous Mr. Lovegrove," was released as a single from the duo's 1993 album Into the Labyrinth. The song peaked at #8 on Billboard's Modern Rock Tracks chart, the only Dead Can Dance tune to hit a Billboard chart.
As good as the Dead Can Dance catalogue is, it's "Mr. Lovegrove" that is the group's signature song.
