The Bells and Whistles Were Going Off!

Recently had to demand not to be put into a certain client's home. The bells and whistles went off on one of the first visits. I felt a little creeped out.
The second time was the deal breaker. It was the end of the visit. Finished the client's laundry, I was running late, opened the door to his apartment and heard the shower running. Left his laundry off to the side of the living room. Knocked on the bathroom door to say I was leaving and as I turned to leave he hurriedly came out of the bathroom in nothing but a towel. I rushed to the door as he said he wouldn't be there the following week. Without looking back I told him I was running late and would tell the scheduler that he wouldn't need a visit.
I couldn't get of the apartment and out of the building fast enough. Once in my car I called the scheduler and left a message to let her know that he would be out of town the following week. I also told her that I would not be going back there, and was calling my supervisor to have her pull me out.
Thankfully, they took me seriously about what happened. I am not sure if they will continue services for this man. All I know is that even if I am scheduled to go there, I will never go there again.
When you get those vibes, there is usually a good reason for them. Pay attention and take flight. Better to be safe than sorry.

My husband was livid when he found out that the man was on my schedule after requesting he be taken off.

Oh goodness that is crazy! I'm glad you listened to your gut. I did the same thing yesterday with a strange babysitting phone call. I just posted about it too.

I just read that. What a strange person. She sounded a bit odd to me.

I now worry for anyone else that may have to go there. Now they are aware that he is not one to be trusted. Therefore he is on the radar.

@simone10 I am not sure. I hope so though. Even so, I won't go back in there even if he were spoke to about the behavior.

@ElusiveButterfly I would worry about the next person also. Has anyone tried talking to him about this?

I will never put myself in a circumstance where I feel my safety is at risk.

We don't have any male aides. I would like to see more men apply for these jobs.

@Missmwngi It would be beneficial for the company to have a male aide.

@CRK109 I had one client years ago that I told my employer that there was a conflict of interest. I was initially removed from his care. Later on I was put back as a regular. I told them that I really didn't feel comfortable being there. The comment I got back was "nobody feels comfortable or likes going in there." Well, discontinue his services. There has to be a reason if so many are complaining.

I agree. They know that I am a good employee and go where ever I am assigned. For me to say something is amiss and refuse to go to a client they take it seriously.

@ElusiveButterfly I'm so glad. Unfortunately, I know too many people who are not respected by their employers.

you think fast and act fast. some people freeze, or take days to report them. i hope he doesn't pull the same stunt on other people.

That is my fear. I probably would have done him physical harm if he had approached me in a manner that would have warranted me to attack him. I worry about others, but now that he is on the radar they know what to be aware of.

It was quite obvious that he lacked morals and was the client from hell.

The alarm went off on the first visit. Every visit thereafter left me with an odd feeling about being there. The last was the straw that broke the camel's back.
