Bridal Shower Ideas?

Lucky me - I am the maid of honor for one of my best friends weddings. I was surprised when she asked me as over the years we have drifted a bit. But now I am maid of honor and therefore required to plan both the bridal shower and the bachlorette party. Eek! I am taking this in baby steps. First to think about is the bridal shower. She is not getting married until October. When would be an appropriate time to have it? 1,2,3,4 months before the wedding? Which is the best do you think? Also - how do you feel about renting a space at a restaurant versus at home bridal showers? My one bedroon apartment will not suffice for having 10+ guests over BUT maybe I could rent someones home. Ha, well, I have "borrowed" mysisters house in the past for a baby shower and that saved a ton of money. However...a restaurant would be classier. What do you think? I have also googled games but looking to see which are your favorite? Whats the most fun game for a bridal shower and how do you play it? What kind of prizes do you give out? Man, I am just at a total and utter loss here. None of my friends have ever gotten married! Any advice is helpful - thanks for letting me pickyour brain!
