Forty things before forty!

As I've mentioned in my previous post I turned 38 this year in the month of February. Two more years and I'll be 40 years old! Am I excited? Probably. Back in my 20s I thought that turning 30 was wonderful. I wanted to be thirty, flirty, and thriving. So I enjoyed my life as if the world would end. In mid 30s, I became serious with life. Plain boring! Now that I have two years left before the BIG 40, I am thinking of enjoying the rest of my thirties and just do whatever I want without limitation (well, if that would be possible). So this morning I made a list of forty things to do before I turn forty and I want mylot to be a part of this phase in my life. First on my list, do YOGA! Checked! This morning, for the very first time in my life, I went to yoga class and surprised myself of what I couldn't do anymore and what I'm still capable of doing. The other lists? To be continued... Do you make such list of goals in your life?

I actually don't list them anymore . My foremost goal now is for our daughter to finally become a doctor . By May 22 , she will be graduating and will be reviewing for the next two months . I am so happy , because for nine years we sent her to college , and now she's graduating already in Medicine .

It's good that you have marked the first on your list DONE. I enjoy doing yoga as well, though I am not good at it, it's so relaxing and calming. I am 37 this year, and 3 more years for me to go. I am excited to be 40 as well! I have always read from other moms, when they reach 40, they are calmer and gentler, especially to the children. I am hoping for that. Of course, that doesn't mean I do nothing and I'll achieve that, I have three years or more for me to work hard on this. I didn't have such list in my life, except for a "big goal" before reaching 30 and 40. Confucius has a very famous quote "At fifteen, I had my mind bent on learning. At thirty, I stood firm. At forty, I had no doubts. At seventy, I could follow what my heart desired, without transgressing what was right." (I just copied this from the net, as the one I studied was in Chinese. There are also goals for 50 and 60, but I haven't really understand them, so those are not my aims yet. My ultimate goal is actually follow my heart and do what I love to do. At 30, I have found my path and knew what I want to do in my life. At 40, I wish to be mindful. I am working towards mindfulness, joy and peace. Perhaps it's good for me to make a list before 40.

I hope you reach all your goals. I've never made goals - I've just enjoyed whatever age I've been, and I'm now in my 8th decade and still enjoying life.

These are not goals that might burden me. But these are just fun things that I'd like to enjoy before I turn 40.

Enjoy the moment. Life is too short so make every minute count.I'm sixty but have no plans yet in making my bucket list since I'm still "young" both in heart and spirits.

Hi, Arthur! Prior to this realisation, I did take life's opportunities as they arise too. But now I just want to have fun and do the things that I haven't done but was supposed to do to make the most out my 30s life.

That's what I thought too. Other people in the class are women in their 50s and 60s. They can't do other poses but they try their best because they said that yoga has really positive effect on their health.

@ida123 Sometimes you have to consider yourself because you deserve it. From the time we got married, we have devoted ourselves to our better halves to the point that we have forgotten about ourselves. My husband and I have always considered giving ourselves the chance to enjoy life on our own. In that case, we don't lose our sense of identity.

@birjudanak Yeah, I understand. You must be a good son and a good student. I had so much fun when I went to college and then when I went to law school I had to study a lot. However, I still find ways to enjoy life with my friends.

Good day Toni. I have found myself making life goals based on age and then I just reconsidered them as a part of my overall plan for self fulfillment. I found some things just a dream and some right on time. I am over 40 and I took advantage of some wonderful opportunities in my life. At this time in my life, I am looking to reach my full potential. While doing this, I hope to make some dreams come true and realize what is possible. Good luck to you.
