Planting turnip greens

My relative starts to plant turnip greens.
At first I thought that she wants to have turnip greens for salad or as stir fried vegetables.
When I ask her about it, she says it is for good luck.
It seems a waste of space to plant the turnip green just for the sake of attracting good luck.
Fortunately I have not spoilt her lucky symbol by plucking the leaves off.
The turnip greens really grow very fast.
When I first saw the pot of two turnips, there was nothing yet.
A week later, the turnip greens were enough to feed a person.
Another week later, you have enough turnip greens for the whole family.
I wonder why my relative thinks that turnip greens can attract good luck.

I love to eat the greens but the turnips, not so much. I would like to know about their good luck too. if you find out let me know.

I have never heard of them being lucky. Are they lucky to grow or lucky to grow and then have in your home. I wonder if she gives them away to someone to eat if it will be okay or if that would make her lose the luck she has gained from them.

I definitely do not know her way of thinking.
If growth is luck, she can grow everything else to bring luck.
I think it is a waste to grow something and not eat it, especially in our country since we live in high rise apartments, and pots and soil cost money.
