Regional characteristics

Stingy--ungenerous: not generous in giving or spending money.
We, Ilocanos (Filipino ethnolinguistic group) are known to be stingy or "kuripot" in tagalog.
That is our regional characteristics.
But not really.
We are just frugal or thrifty.
We are just being practical, we are just saving some money for rainy days. Though i know some who really are like Manny Pacquiao--a boxer, lol. Like our hands are closed so tight,, haha.
So, if we do computations with what we buy, we are just being practical and buy only what we need, haha.

I do not generalize people by the regions they live in our country but individually, my late father is half from that region you mentioned but he was so generous to everybody although he has relatives who acts and practice the traits you mentioned

Being frugal is not bad, it is a good characteristics and everyone does it also, like me. I did that also because I used to that, how can I bring my children to college if I'm not doing it, I send them to good schools without stopping and that is because I thrift and save a lot when they are still kids.
