Into the Groovy #13 - "Cuts You Up"

The Groovy continues now with the man nicknamed "The Godfather of Goth."
What to do when your band, Bauhaus, most often credited with inventing goth, breaks up? While the other three band members (guitarist/saxophonist Daniel Ash, bassist David J, and drummer Kevin Haskins) eventually formed Love and Rockets, vocalist Peter Murphy did one album with Dali's Car before embarking on a solo career.
And it is a solo career that is about as far away from goth as can get (and yet, Murphy remains as popular with goth's as ever. At least, with my goth friends.)
1990, even saw Murphy cross over to the mainstream with "Cuts You Up," a #1 on Billboard's Modern Rock Tracks chart, and #55 on the Hot 100. (And, believe it or not, it was once used as music for golf promo's on TV as well.)
"Cuts You Up" is a beautiful song, a far cry from arguably the greatest goth song ever, Bauhaus' "Bela Lugosi's Dead." I've linked to the official "Cuts You Up" video below:
