New Use For a Skateboard

This friend of mine, who is a gardener was giving me some gardening tips, because I need to redo my flower beds along the sidewalk to my front door. Two tips she gave me among many, I wanted to share with you. First of all, I know I have told you about my pellet stove. While it doesn’t produce very much ash, she was telling me how ash is a valuable commodity for controlling the pH level in your garden. Ash is rich in Phosphorous and other elements. She said to save the ash in a metal container, just in case there are hot embers and then in the Fall, to sprinkle it over my garden, depending on what I plan to plant in my garden. The soil needs to be analyzed first. For instance, azaleas need a more acidic soil and this is also true of other plants and bushes. Make sure of what your plants NEED. The other tip was, that she uses her son’s skateboard to sit on as she works on her flower beds along the sidewalk leading to her front porch. What a good idea! It rolls right along with you, so you don’t have to keep getting up and down. Happy gardening! Picture by Pixabay

I haven't any access to a skateboard, but it sounds a good tip, providing you can get down that far!

My grandson has a skateboard that I'm sure he would let me use, but what I will probably do, is get him to sit on it and take care of my flowers for me.

@jaboUK Yes, because I can't really get down on it myself. Or I may be able to get down, but not get up again. That's my biggest problem. Old age stinks.

I don't garden as much as I used to, but I know a lot of people do. I mainly use flower pots on my front porch to satisfy my gardening desires.

I have heard of ash and Phosphorous. Using a skateboard to sit on as she works is a really good idea especially if you have bad knees.

Yes, I thought they were good ideas for those who do like to putter in the garden.

Your friend has come up with a great way to repurpose a skateboard. I wonder how her son feels about it?

It was one of his old skateboards, she said. He has a new one and this one was just out in the garage gathering dust. She thought about using it when she was getting her garden tools and it worked well for her.

Those are great tips. Having something roll along with you while you're gardening is a plus.

Yes, I had never thought about sitting on a skateboard to plant and tend to flower beds, but it seems like a good idea.
