America's Team: The Dallas Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys were considered America's Team when I was growing up. While they are not usually referred to in those terms today, they are certainly treated like America's Team and they enjoy a disproportionate share of media attention. Just look at how many articles are written about what the Cowboys will do in the draft. Jerry Jones is a great businessman but just an average football executive. The Cowboys have not come close to the Super Bowl in a very long time, and they are not expected back anytime soon. They are just as average team. So, are the Cowboys still America's Team? Should they be treated like any other team?

The Cowboys are one of those teams with a huge following and getting press even when mediocre. Like the Yankees, Notre Dame, Celtics, Lakers, Dodgers, Redskins.
