Good morning, I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend so far. We had quite a cold start this morning temperatures only in the mid 30's and I hear there is a chance of snow. My goodness... This morning I sat down at my work desk and went right into e-mails. There were a few things I wanted to manage right off before covering the presidential campaign rallies today. I'm working on a news piece dealing with #Instagram not giving anything away. Waiting for another statement from them before I can get that written up. I've already been in touch twice, this last statement should be enough. I also sent out an e-mail today for one of my upcoming projects which I mentioned in an earlier post yesterday in fact, about receiving an offer on a writing assignment. I'm trying to get a list of all the businesses that are taking part in the new program project for the community because I want to set up interviews. The difficult part might be that some of the companies might want to be anonymous. I want to be as prepared for the official kick-off date as possible. I'll be taking photos, hopefully speaking with the project heads and a few of the businesses. Later on, I want to meet with the businesses and get the personal interviews as it all progresses. It's a lot of work reporting on stories like this. Plus, I asked a few questions that they were not expecting and want to give them a chance to respond before publishing what I know. A good reporter digs deep folks. Key Tips In Reporting: Always get names and always give a chance for someone to respond before publishing something. Even if they say they don't want to respond you have it on the record you gave them a chance to clear anything up and wished not to comment. That's been my day so far. I'm going to take a break, grab a cup of tea and a snack, I need it.

my last paper was odd on that, we werent allowed to mention someone if all we had was, X was contact and chose not to comment. if they didnt comment, that was fine, but their name wasnt to be mentioned at all. odd little town paper. fun job though. miss it sometimes

Reporting can be fun. but honestly I don't think half of what is published or said on TV is true, for obvious reasons.
