Day 15 Psalm 15 Psalm 15:1 < LORD, who shall abide in thy tabernacle? Who shall dwell in thy holy hill? 2 He that walks uprightly, and works righteousness, and speaks the truth in his heart. 3 He that backbites not with his tongue, nor does evil to his neighbor, nor takes up a reproach against his neighbor. 4 In whose eyes a vile person is contemned; but he honors them that fear the LORD. He that swears to his own hurt, and changes not. 5 He that puts not out his money to usury, nor takes reward against the innocent. He that does these things shall never be moved. We all know one thing – we’re sinners. Our thoughts are not always pure. We don’t always speak the complete truth, and once in a while we gossip. If we consider this psalm David wrote, it would seem nobody is fit for heaven. Nobody is. Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; (KJV) However, that’s why God needed to send us a Savior so we could go to heaven. So we could have fellowship with the Father. Romans 5:8 But God commends his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. By ourselves we aren’t worthy. However, when we accept Jesus as Savior and Lord, he washes us clean in his blood so we can stand before the Father in robes of righteousness with a new label on our lives: Not Guilty. Only the blood of Jesus can do that for us, nothing else. So then, when you read David’s psalm about who can go into God’s tabernacle, you should be able to say Yes, I can. As Christians, we shouldn’t do any of those things David mentions. Are we perfect? No. However, we can confess our sins before God and he will cleanse us from all sin. 1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (KJV) As Christians we won’t want to do any of those things David mentioned. We won’t gossip. We won’t slander our neighbor. We won’t take bribes, and we will always try to do what’s right and just. Being a Christian isn’t easy, but when you put your hand in Jesus’ hand and walk with him, allowing the Word of God to be your guide through this life, it will be easier. We will stumble. We will fall, but he will lift us up and set our feet back on the path. Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. (KJV) Now look at the whole sentence surrounding Romans 3:23 and feel the hope rise in your heart. Romans 3:21 But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; 22 Even the righteousness of God, which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference: 23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; 24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: 25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; 26 To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believes in Jesus. Here is our hope. Here is our passage into eternal life with Jesus Christ. Not because of anything we did, but because of what Jesus did for us, making us holy and without spot or wrinkle before him. Knowing this, you can read Psalm 15 with confidence, knowing you can go into God’s tabernacle. You can stand in his presence. You are clean and pure, justified by the blood of Jesus Christ, God’s Son. Let’s pray: Father, thank you for washing me in the blood of your Son, Jesus. Help me walk in hope, as I come into your presence and worship you in Spirit and truth. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen. Copyright © 3 April 2016 by Valerie Jean Routhieaux Image courtesy of Pixabay

If our path was an easy one we would take God's grace and forgiveness for granted.
